Western Singing
As a solo performer, my calendar is filling up fast. After five years performing almost exclusively with a fabulous cowboy band, solo feels new again. It's exciting to be up there by myself. Solo performances are best in an intimate setting, from the coffee house to the classroom; living room concerts are fun alternatives these days.
Western music is timeless, and it appeals to every audience. Music experts appreciate the complex harmonies and chord structures of western swing, and everyone loves a classic cowboy tune. “The Streets of Laredo” is not found in many music textbooks these days, so live performances have become an essential link to our country’s history.
Yodeling is my thing. Wouldn’t have thought so a few years back, but folks seem to enjoy it, and I enjoy seeing them smile when I do it. The awards I have received put me in some pretty fine company, and I’m honored to be counted among them.
